Todays pastel is not just for producing impressionistic works the like of Degas and Mary Cassatt. Instead, soft pastels are used by major entertainment studios for color and character development sketches. Some of the major animated films of the last 10 years have used the medium to capture the color and mood of the film with vibrant results.
Melanie Stimmell Van Latum, a master pastel artist, will take you on a wonderful exploration of the medium. Supplying you with all the materials you need, she will guide you through the basics of learning to paint like a pro so you can go from quick sketch to a detailed, dramatic still life like a studio pro.
